Health & Safety

Last updated July 9, 2026

HumHerd is built to feel calming, but sound and moving visuals affect people differently. Please read this before you use it, and use your own judgment about what feels right for your body.

Stop using HumHerd right away and talk to a doctor if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or disoriented, or notice altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, or any involuntary movement.

Flashing and moving visuals

HumHerd shows animated visuals, including the sacred-geometry mandala, cymatic patterns, and breath guides, that move, pulse, and change color with the sound. A very small number of people can have seizures triggered by flashing lights or moving patterns, even if they have never had a seizure before. This is called photosensitive epilepsy.

If you or anyone in your family has a history of seizures or epilepsy, talk to a doctor before using HumHerd. You can reduce on-screen motion at any time by turning on Reduce Motion in your device or browser settings, and HumHerd will honor it. If you feel any of the symptoms above, stop immediately.

Sound and hearing

Start at a low volume and raise it slowly until it is comfortable. Loud or prolonged audio, especially through headphones or earbuds, can damage your hearing over time. Binaural beats, isochronic tones, and brainwave-style tones are offered for relaxation and focus. They are not therapy and are not proven to change your brain state.

Not medical care

HumHerd is a wellness and creative tool, not a medical device, and nothing in the app is medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, including tinnitus, anxiety, insomnia, or any other. Features described with words like sound healing, solfeggio, chakra, or tinnitus relief reflect traditions and personal practices, not medical claims. Do not use HumHerd in place of professional care, and talk to a qualified professional about any health concern.

Use it responsibly

The tones and slow pacing are designed to help you relax and can make you drowsy. Do not use HumHerd while driving or operating machinery, and never rely on it as an alarm, a timer you must not miss, or any kind of safety device. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, or have any other health concern that sound or relaxation might affect, check with your doctor first. Stop if you feel unwell.

Who can use HumHerd

HumHerd is intended for people 13 and older. If a child uses it, a parent or guardian should supervise, especially around volume and the moving visuals.
